Friends of Tlingit Park/TPRP

Friends of Tlingit Park (FOTP), under the wing of the Haines Woman's Club, will continue to provide TLC in Tlingit Park. Several TPRP members will ensure a smooth transition. Please consider joining as a committee member (quarterly meetings) and/or signing on to the resource list.

TPRP (Tlingit Park Recreation Project) members continue to work on finalizing the following project elements:

  • Barbecues
  • Acknowledgement Kiosk
  • Recreation Trail
  • Raised planters
  • Landscaping
  • Educational and historical signage
  • Safety issues (fence and ditch)

If you'd like to volunteer on the park maintenance and upkeep, please contact Tigger.

In May, hundreds of volunteers built the Tlingit Park Playground in old-fashioned barn-raising style. In just 5 days, we went from bare ground to a finished play structure.

Thank you, Haines for your incredible support!

What is TPRP?

TPRP is a cooperative community park improvement project sponsored by the Haines Woman's Club and Haines Borough. In addition to a custom community-built play structure, TPRP and the Haines borough will install new lighting, bathrooms, picnic tables & benches, signage, landscaping, and pathways, with ADA accessibility throughout. (see Leathers and Associates for more information about the playground.)
